Congressman Yoho’s Agriculture Committee assignments were the full committee, bio-tech and nutrition. He was awarded the Golden Plow Award in 2017 from the American Farm Bureau Federation for the strong recognition and contributions to U.S. Agriculture. This is their highest form of recognition to members of Congress from the Federation.
These experiences have allowed him to understand the importance of having good, strong government-to-government relationships as well as business-to-government relationships. These relationships are essential in developing robust and fair trade agreements among entities and lead to strong economic growth. In addition, it helps create direct foreign investments reciprocally between nations.
The extensive travel involved with committee delegation trips - both domestically and internationally - along with expert witnesses’ statements during committee hearings enabled Congressman Yoho to have a global perspective and broad-based relationships with international leaders involving many different issues. These issues include government-to-government relations, foreign and trade policies between countries and businesses along with agriculture, national security, military concerns and areas of public health especially during the COVID pandemic.

Congressman Yoho received the Mongolian Order of the Polar Star presented by Ambassador Otgonbayar
Congressman Yoho on April 13, 2021 receives the Mongolian Order of the Polar Star presented by Ambassador Otgonbayar at the Mongolian Embassy in Washington, DC.
This award was presented at the direction of Mongolian President Battulga for work Congressman Yoho did to strengthen relationships between the United States and Mongolia.
Previous U.S. citizen recipients were President Barrack Obama, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Senator John McCain.
First elected to Congress in 2012, Yoho kept his pledge to serve only four terms and did not seek reelection last year.
During his time on Capitol Hill, Yoho made his mark on foreign policy, including serving as the vice-chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee and led the U.S. House Asia and the Pacific Subcommittee.
Yondongiin Otgonbayar, the Mongolian ambassador to the U.S., presented Yoho the award this week at an event at the Mongolian embassy. The award was given to Yoho “in appreciation for his excellent contribution in the development of the U.S.-Mongolian foreign relations”
Otgonbayar noted the award was equivalent to the Presidential Medal of Freedom and is rarely awarded to non-Mongolians.
